Outside of his busy surgical practice, Dr. Rong spends his time on clinical and translational research at the Al-Rashid Orbital Research Center. Through his work, he has described novel reconstruction techniques for ocular surface burns, orbital trauma, and lacrimal sac malignancies. In the laboratory, he is currently working on developing new diagnostic and therapeutic options for ocular adnexal sebaceous carcinoma, recently describing the effects of chemotherapy against a sebaceous carcinoma cell line. His work has been published in prestigious journals such as the American Journal of Ophthalmology, JAMA Ophthalmology, and the Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Journal and his work has been featured in the media as well as major specialty meetings.
